ANGEL TREE

THANK YOU.  With your help, the Summit has been able to surpass our original goal and sponsor 265 children of prisoners this Christmas through the Angel Tree program.

If you have already delivered the gifts, please make sure you update your status online and let us know how it went.  We encourage you to continue to pray for the family and build on the relationship that you have now started with them.

About the Summit Prison Ministry: The vision of the prison ministry at the Summit is to show and share the love of Christ with prisoners and their families pre- and post- release. With the help of Prison Fellowship ministries, we want to minister to offenders and their families through relationships focused on discipleship and to help them access the resources they need to successfully re-integrate into society. There are 76 prisons in NC with 40,000 prisoners. After their release, 50%-75% of those prisoners will be arrested or return to jail in the next 3 years. 85% of children of prisoners will become incarcerated themselves. But if every church in NC adopted 2 prisoners, they would all be taken care of!

Volunteer opportunities

  1. Prayer - Commit to pray for the prisoners and families we partner with
  2. Mentoring - Become a mentor by regularly attending one of our groups at the Men's or Women's Prison in Raleigh. The men's Project Nehemiah group meets Sunday nights 6-8pm and the men's Yokefellows group meets Monday nights 7:30-9pm.  The women's Yokefellows group meets Monday nights 6:30-7:30pm.  We are beginning to work with Durham County Correctional on Guess Road and other options are also available. Training required for all who enter the prison.
  3. Family Outreach - Build relationships with families of prisoners and help support them. (Helping with rides, meals, childcare, etc)
  4. Re-Entry - Use your resources to help prisoners reentering society. (Helping them find jobs, housing, transportation, food, clothing, etc)
