The book of Jonah is more than an odd story about a man being swallowed by a fish—it is a tale of God’s redeeming activity in a lost world. Through this series we will explore how Jonah’s bizarre journey clarifies the incredible mission of God, a mission that God invites His people to take part in with Him.

Here at the Summit we utilize three main environments to disciple one another. Weekend Services, Small Groups, and age-based ministries. At key times during the year we align these three environments around a common theme. Please read up on our "Alignment Overview" for a clear explanation of how this all works. In Castaway, we will be aligned together around the mission of God. Below are resources various ministries will be using during this series. 

Jesus in My Place. While the weekend services will be walking through the book of Jonah, Summit Small Groups will be digging into the mission of God by way of training on how to talk with others about Jesus. How to share the gospel message. This study, titled Jesus in My Place, is 5 weeks and designed to equip you to take the gospel with confidence into your circle of influence.

Each study is driven by a 10-12 minute video featuring teaching by Summit pastors and stories of how God is at work in our city and world. Both the study guide and all of the videos are available on the Jesus in my Place page.

Jesus in My Place. This study is a parallel study to the adult small group study while tailored to fit the high school student's life. 

Family Prayer Guide. As we dive into the mission of God as a church, one simple way to apply what we are learning is to pray for our church planters serving around the world. This guide walks you through praying for our church planters over the course of this series. To protect our church planters, we cannot post this guide online, but you can pick one up at your campus.

Family Devotionals. We've created a short, accessible devotional for you to go through with your kids each week during this series. These devotionals are located INSIDE THE SMALL GROUP STUDY GUIDE. You will find them at the end of each week's study. We encourage you to use these to disciple your family towards becoming a part of the mission of God.
