Believe Project Offering
We're excited about what God is doing through our Believe Project Offering. We anticipate the initial distribution of these gifts to be as follows:
70% ($700,000) towards facility expansion & renovations at the Brier Creek Campus
20% ($200,000) towards Cole Mill parking renovations and to start a building expansion or possibly a relocation fund.
10% ($100,000) towards staff, facility & equipment for the Noth Raleigh Campus plant.
What can you do?
Belief, obedience, generosity and the faithfulness of God have brought us this far. That doesn’t change going forward. We say that sacrifice is giving up something you love for something you love more. Your continued sacrifice and generosity will be used by God to keep this vision moving forward.
Specifically at this moment in the journey, we are asking you to consider what you can do right now, in 2010. Perhaps you made a pledge to Believe last year. Is it possible for you to increase that, or accelerate your gift? Maybe you haven’t made a commitment yet. Now is the time for you to join in.
More Details
The Summit Church family has recently purchased the land and facilities for the Brier Creek Campus. This lays an important foundation for our continued growth both at this location and as a hub from which future campuses can be planted. By utilizing the auditorium and the Bay, Brier Creek is currently hosting six worship gatherings each weekend with one of those being fully in Spanish. Total weekend worship gatherings will increase to eight or more by fall, 2010. This purchase has more than doubled our facility size and costs us less per month than it would to lease the same amount of space.
More than $1,000,000 has been given to the Believe Project in the last year. Without this kind of generosity, this purchase wouldn’t have been possible. The next step for the Brier Creek campus will be funding the renovation of the newly acquired space to make it useful for continued growth. These renovations will depend on new funds that are given to Believe.
At the same time, the Summit has other growing campuses. Here’s a brief overview with some of the upcoming needs each may have.
The West Club Campus (WCC) was planted on October 5th, 2008 with 170 adults in the first worship gathering. Located in the heart of Durham and ideally situated to reach Duke University and the North Carolina School of Science and Math, WCC is currently averaging over 500 a week in attendance. (Yes, it’s tripled in size in less than 18 months.) WCC is an example of God’s faithfulness in how he has provided space for growth because this campus meets in a building owned by another church. The Journey Fellowship continues to meet at this location but they have partnered with the Summit and opened up the space we’ve needed to grow. Because of the nature of this arrangement, we don’t have facility plans for West Club. We give the Journey Fellowship a donation each month and enjoy a wonderful relationship with a sister church.
The Cole Mill Campus (CMC), our first video campus, averages over 500 and has the highest ratio of young families of all of our campuses…20% kids each week. Since starting in August of 2007, CMC has always had space issues. These were helped by sending about 100 people to help launch the West Club Campus but fortunately, the campus has continued to grow and is again facing space challenges both in worship and children’s’ space. The question for this campus is whether it will be more effective to expand at its current location or move to one that better accommodates its growth. This campus has a history of doing whatever it takes but whatever direction that is will be dependent on funding.
A New Campus When we began the Believe Project early in 2009, we set a goal for launching one to two new campuses in RDU within two years. Plans are now underway for our first Raleigh Campus, which we hope to see planted in the fall of this year. We’ve seen tremendous growth in the number of Raleigh families and students attending the Summit. A campus closer to these communities will have a great opportunity to see new people reached. Believe Project funding will be a necessary element.
