What is Believe

Believe is our Mission Expansion Project, another step of faith in our journey. The Summit took a step in January 2002 when 350 people set a goal to reach 1000 by Easter. Another step was taken in 2004 by pledging and giving $2.8 million to a relocation project (Cole Mill Campus and 37 acres in the Brier Creek area). Other steps have been selling our first building and moving into a high school, buying land across town, and becoming a multi-campus church that meets at four campuses in three locations. Over these few short years, those 350 people have grown to more than 3000. Now it is time for us to take another step; one that will lay a foundation for future expansion of the mission throughout RDU and to the ends of the earth.

Why "Believe"?
One word unlocks the power needed for this step. Believe. It is a command. It is a calling. It is simply obedience. We must believe because the mission is central and belief unlocks the power of God for the mission of God. We believe because God is able.

Mission Expansion Project Goals
During our last project like this, we began the process of relocating to a new facility in order to reach more people with the gospel. Since then, God has indeed expanded our vision. We are now a multi-campus church with a growing focus on planting churches. We have learned to view buildings as tools and the gospel as our goal.

Current Facilities Development – Immediate
To insure all of our current facilities are ready for continued growth over the next one to three years we need to: lease, renovate, and open another worship venue at the Brier Creek Campus; upgrade our broadcast quality to insure the best experience for all of our video campuses; develop a master plan for the growth and development of the Cole Mill campus.
Estimated costs: $1,000,000

Current Facilities Development - 2009-2010
Starting three new campuses in the last 18 months has enabled the Summit to reach more than 1000 new people. We are committed to expanding our campuses and have a goal for there to be a Summit campus within 15 minutes of everyone who lives in the RDU area. Starting new campuses requires capital for meeting facilities and staff. We estimate that opening two more campuses by the end of 2010 may require an investment of up to $500,000 for each campus.

A Permanent Broadcast Worship Facility – 2010…
Our goal is to build, purchase or renovate a facility that would be designed to provide room for more growth as well as serve as a broadcast facility for all of our video teaching campuses. A permanent campus like this would also provide a platform for community outreach, planting churches and launching new campuses. Depending on whether we build on our property or purchase an existing building, the cost of this facility is UP TO $20,000,000. Because of the current banking environment, a significant portion of that will need to be in hand before securing financing to begin construction.
