North American Church Plants
The Summit partners with several church plants across the country. In addition to financial support, we frequently send short-term ministry teams to these church plants to help with their outreach efforts. If you're interested in participating in one of these short-term trips, contact us and we'll let you know when the next trips are scheduled.
City Church (Murfreesboro, TN) - In July 2011, Trevor Atwood and his family and 9 others from the Summit moved to plant City Church. They are joined by 30 others already living in Murfreesboro. Murfreesboro is a city of over 110,000 about 30 miles south of Nashville. It is the fastest growing city in TN and the 12th fastest growing city in the nation. It is also home to the largest university in the state, Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), which is 26,000 students strong. Over 75% of people in Murfreesboro do not attend church. City Church desires to be a church that reaches those who aren't looking for a church.
Vision Church (Raleigh, NC) – The Summit established a partnership with Vision in 2010. Located in Southeast Raleigh, Vision Church has one mission: fulfilling God’s vision of making disciple-making disciples. This vision comes from Acts 16 where the gospel reaches different races, economic backgrounds and cultures, and is based on the belief that the gospel changes people, and people changed by the gospel change the world. Please pray for Vision Church: for maturity (they have a ton of new converts and need more leaders); for giving (a constant struggle); for their pastor, Jerome Gay (that he will be transparent accountable and faithful to the gospel); for the people to whom they minister (that they will trust Christ as their savior); and for the people of Vision (that they will love Jesus more and more).
The Summit Church Denver (Denver, CO) - The Summit Church Denver was planted in January 2011 in Denver, CO. Denver is a thriving city of approximately 2.8 million people, home to over 140,000 college students, 75 nationalities and languages, and professionals of all fields who influence the country and world. At the same time, Denver is far less than 10% evangelical and in desperate need of more gospel-centered churches. The Summit Church Denver strives to be a gospel-centered community on mission for Jesus to the city of Denver and world. The Summit Denver was born out of the vision of the lead pastor, Bryan Barley, to plant a church in the heart of an influential city with a desperate need for the gospel. Bryan and his team are excited about moving to the city and planting their lives there with the intention of planting God’s church.
The Gallery Church – We have been a partner of The Gallery Church since 2007. The Gallery is a group of Christ followers that want to display the Glory of God in NYC and around the world. The Gallery has a unique opportunity to show the love of Christ to men and women in their community that are HIV positive. The Gallery is pioneering a model for local churches around our country in the way they are responding to the AIDS pandemic. They have also already planted a daughter church in Baltimore.
Integrity Church – Integrity is one of our newest church planting partnerships. Pastor Ben Tugwell is a former member of the Summit who planted Integrity in 2007. Integrity exists to know God the Father, God the Son, God the Spirit and to make Him known to the city of Greenville, NC and to the remote places of the world. This partnership is an important part of our strategy to reach the state of North Carolina with the Gospel.
Redemption Hill Church – Our partnership with Redemption Hill began because of our participation in the Acts 29 Network. The vision of Redemption Hill is defined by three distinctives: being Gospel-Centered, Grace-Driven, and Mission-Minded. We are excited about the vision that God has given to Rob and we look forward to seeing how Redemption Hill is used by God to bless their city.
Youngstown Metro Church - The partnership that we have with Metro is our oldest partnership. Pastor Josh Shank was on staff at the Summit and then left in 2004 to plant a church in his hometown of Youngstown, Ohio. Metro has seen God do some spectacular things over their short lifespan and are trusting for greater things in the future.
