Christmas Missions Offering
Christmas Missions Offering
Collections for the Christmas Missions Offering will be taken at all worship services during the month of December. You can also give online at any time. Below are details on the offering.
Every year during the Christmas season, the Summit Church works together to be a blessing. We know that we are able to do more as a whole than any one part. We want to invite you to begin praying about what you can give and how you can participate. The goal of our Christmas Missions Offering is to be a blessing to the RDU metroplex and our church planting efforts around the globe.
Community Ministry $65,000
Over the past six years the we have expanded our efforts in the area of community ministry. Also, during that time, the Lord has expanded our understanding as to what our community includes. Currently we are focused on the RDU metroplex when we think about “our community”. Hope for RDU is the community outreach of the Summit and these funds will go to support our work all across RDU. In the past we have used these funds to help finance houses with Habitat for Humanity. We have used these funds over the past year to serve 10 local schools. We have also used funds from this offering to provide our Summit Small Groups with resources to carry out ministry ideas that they have developed together. 100% of these funds will be given away to support our ongoing efforts across RDU.
Church Planting $180,000
Almost on a weekly basis you hear about our vision to plant 1,000 churches over the next 40 years. Pastor J.D. is leading the effort in casting the vision and we are working hard to set up the systems and structures that we will use to see this vision become reality. Currently, the Summit has approximately 40 individuals serving as international church planters via the International Mission Board (IMB). The IMB is the sending agency that the Summit partners with to make our international church planting efforts possible. We have also partnered in planting 5 churches in North America. 100% of these funds will go to supporting our International church planters, our current North American church plants, future church planting efforts and equipping for current covenant members at the Summit that sense God calling them to be a part of our church planting efforts.
Goal for 2009: $245,000
This offering will be collected during the weekend of December 5 and 6 at all campuses during all worship gatherings. You may also give online beginning December 1.
